Online Registration - General Information

Growing up, not only was I a computer nerd, but I was also a world-class bank geek (AND math AND science, but I digress).  So when my band director hosted all-region and all-district tryouts, I was hovering around the Apple IIe with great curiousity.  I went off to college and would drive back to help out with the computer tabulation portion of coordinating events of that nature.  When I was his assistant band director in Atlanta, Texas, guess who was responsible for gathering all of the entries on paper that were sent in by the participating directors?  Right!...me.  Entering data for 1,200 students isn't something one normally looks forward to.  So when I retired as a band director and became a software engineer, I decided the first thing I was going to do was to create an Online Registration System that directors could use instead of doing all of that manual data entry. 

So that's the story.  This isn't really a "shopping cart" item since there's so much communication involved in setting up such a thing.  When an organization uses our Online Registration system, they pay $50.00*.  Here's what they get:

  • A custom entry form that can be linked to from the organization's site
  • Event number and password security so that a passerby cannot casually submit entries
  • Data field validations and feedback to the director if data is missing
  • A printable confirmation page
  • Confirmation emails to both the host director and the director adding entries
  • Data is collected in an Excel spreadsheet for the host director and can be organized
